I see a lot of sweats on YouTube doing the place a block, shear, hit, place the block, shear thing etc.
However, when I play it takes much longer to shear wool than the videos show.

What is your experience and personal opinion on this?

it mainly comes down to practice, timing, and ping. Many experienced players have spent countless hours refining their mechanics, so actions like placing a block, shearing, and attacking appear almost instantaneous. High FPS, low latency, and consistent click timing also make these sequences look much smoother than they often feel in-game.

That said, videos can sometimes make these plays seem faster than they are due to editing, favorable conditions, or repeated attempts. If your shearing feels noticeably slower, it could also be affected by your connection, server latency, or your own timing rather than the shears themselves.

Overall, I don't think there's a hidden mechanic that makes shearing faster. With enough practice and stable performance, you'll gradually become more efficient at executing the same techniques.

It is sheer practice and experience, most of these people have practiced their block placements and switching from block to shear timings, thus it seems way faster when they do it. All Minecraft servers have the same shear speeds :D
