Can we have villagers?

I understand that mobs despawn to reduce server load, but that shouldn't apply to villagers as they don't reappear and now the village, which is a very important part of the game is pretty irrelevant.

villager trade exploits should already be fixed, along with dozens of other game exploits.

There's no clear reason why we shouldn't be able to have animals or villagers.
