Ranked Spleef would suck because you can camp within the rules. This is because the snowballs can't break the blocks of snow.
This would lead to 20 minute stalemates where no one gains any elo and wastes their ranked matches.

You also haven't put a lot of detail explaining why it would be a positive change and in my opinion it would just cater for players to create an area for them to camp in and wait for opponents to rage quit.
