ABOUT THIS GUIDE

Hello, my name is Hydro, and I’m creating this thread to share my knowledge and experience with players looking to improve their BedWars skills. I’ve been playing Minecraft for a long time and have competed in various tournaments, even winning ones where money was involved. With over 10 years of PvP experience, I've had the privilege of competing at a professional level against some of the best players out there. This guide is designed to help players of all levels, whether you're new to BedWars or looking to refine your strategies and PvP techniques. I hope you find it helpful and can use these tips to dominate your games!

Key Strategies

Early Game (First 5 Minutes):

  • Quick Bed Defense: Start by gathering resources quickly (iron and gold) to protect your bed. A simple defense is to cover it with wool, but upgrading to wood, stone, or endstone gives better protection.
    • Basic Bed Defense: Wool (1 layer)Wood (1-2 layers)Stone/Endstone if you can afford it.
    • You can also add traps like the Mining Fatigue Trap to slow down enemies trying to rush your bed.
  • Resource Gathering: Always prioritize gathering iron and gold as they are used to buy key items like swords, armor, blocks, and tools.
    • Iron: Used for basic blocks (wool), armor, and tools.
    • Gold: Used for better items like swords, armor upgrades, and utility items like fireballs and TNT.

Mid Game (5-15 Minutes):

  • Rush and Aggression: After setting up a basic defense, start gathering resources from diamonds and emeralds. Diamonds can upgrade your team’s equipment and defenses, while emeralds are used for powerful items like Ender Pearls, Potions, and Obsidian.
    • Diamond Upgrades: Focus on Sharpened Swords (to increase damage output) and Protection (to reduce damage taken).
    • Emerald Upgrades: Invest in Ender Pearls (teleportation to enemy bases), or Diamond Armor for survivability.
  • Controlling the Middle: Try to control the mid area for emeralds as much as possible, but always stay vigilant for enemy players trying to rush or sneak up on you.
  • Rushing Opponents’ Beds: Once you have enough resources, consider going on the offensive. Bring TNT or Fireballs to destroy enemy defenses. Speed potions and Ender Pearls are also excellent tools to quickly infiltrate enemy bases.

Late Game (15+ Minutes):

  • Final Push: By now, you should have solid armor and weapons. Focus on picking off any remaining teams, using TNT, Fireballs, and Ender Pearls to break through enemy defenses.
  • Prepare for End Game: If the game goes long enough, you may end up in a situation where you’re the last team standing. You’ll want Diamond Armor, a Power Bow, and a Fully Upgraded Sword (Diamond or better). Make sure to stock up on healing potions, Golden Apples, and TNT for surprise attacks.
  • Don't Let Your Guard Down: As other teams’ beds get destroyed, expect more intense PvP action. Keep an eye on your bed (and others') at all times to ensure no one sneaks in for a surprise attack.

BedWars Tips & Tricks

1. Bed Defense:

  • Layering: Use multiple layers of blocks to protect your bed, starting with wool for speed, followed by wood for added durability, and endstone or obsidian for maximum protection.
  • Trap Placement: Set traps like Mining Fatigue or Alarms to alert you of incoming attackers. Traps give you time to react and fend off attackers.
  • Final Layer - Obsidian: If you can afford it, Obsidian is the best final layer for a bed defense. It’s tough to break with tools and forces attackers to use TNT or Ender Pearls.

2. Resource Management:

  • Efficient Farming: Don’t waste time waiting around the generator for resources. Once you have enough iron, rush to other islands to collect diamonds and emeralds. Prioritize upgrades before rushing.
  • Gold Use: Gold is a limited resource, so use it wisely. Golden Apples, Fireballs, and TNT are the key items you’ll want to purchase with gold, especially for offensive strategies.

3. Combat and PvP:

  • Combo Attacks: In BedWars, combos are essential for knocking opponents off bridges or getting the upper hand in fights. Use W-Tapping, S-Tapping, and Strafing to throw off their aim and maintain pressure.

4. Team Coordination:

  • Communicate: BedWars is often a team game, so it’s important to communicate with your teammates. Use voice chat or in-game messages to coordinate rushes, defense, or diamond/emerald gathering.
  • Specialization: Have one person focus on bed defense, while others gather resources and rush enemy bases. Diversifying roles makes your team more efficient.
  • Shared Resources: Use the team chest to store extra resources like gold or emeralds, so teammates can access them as needed.

5. Dealing with Rushers:

  • Bridge Defenders: Keep your eyes on the bridges and suspicious movements. If you see an opponent rushing to your base, immediately use fireballs or bows to knock them off.
  • Mid Game Rushers: Be prepared for people to rush in the mid-game. Have TNT ready or place defensive traps if you see players trying to sneak up on your bed.

Important BedWars Items

TNT:

  • Useful for breaking enemy bed defenses quickly. TNT is especially effective against wood, wool, and stone-based defenses.
  • Timing is everything. Place TNT and quickly back away to let it explode and cause the most damage.

Fireballs:

  • Fireballs are one of the best tools for knocking players off of bridges or dealing heavy damage to enemy defenses.
  • Be sure to aim slightly ahead of moving enemies to land a hit.
  • They can also be used to break beds if they don’t have strong defenses.

Ender Pearls:

  • Ender Pearls are essential for escaping dangerous situations or quickly infiltrating enemy bases.
  • They can also be used to get around a base’s bed defense (if it’s well-protected) or to reach inaccessible areas.

Advanced Strategies

  • Bridge Defense: When bridging to other teams, consider using a technique like the “god bridge” or “speed bridge” to get across quickly and safely while minimizing the risk of being knocked off.
  • Late-Game Aggression: In late game, players tend to hide or become more defensive. Use Ender Pearls to catch them off guard, or break their defense with TNT or Fireballs.
  • Teamwork and Distraction: When attacking another team, coordinate with your teammates to distract the enemy while others break their bed defense. This can throw off your opponent’s focus and give your team an upper hand.

It doesn't matter if it doesn't fit your play style, you can take certain bits from this guide and implement it in your gameplay.

Thanks for your feedback

I am currently in university for Criminology and forensic science within the best university for this field in London. I also run 3 businesses and have a regular paying job. But thanks for your feedback.

lol that's cool, I actually work full time as a detective for my cities police department, so naturally I'm big into forensics and criminology too, that's neat.
