SkyBlock PvP Revamp
Detailed description:
The SkyBlock PvP system needs a full revamp, starting with updating the combat version from 1.8.9 to 1.20. The current 1.8.9 setup has not worked out, resulting in one of the most inactive PvP seasons yet. Players have not found it engaging, and grinding has become worse as a result. The older 1.16 or 1.20 PvP mechanics were more balanced and enjoyable for the majority.
The PvP map should be expanded to something around 350x350 blocks, featuring interesting terrain. The arena should include climbable mountains, trees, water lakes (for Depth Strider usage), and indirect but tough parkour paths that keep you inside the arena while still allowing room for strategic escape and outplay potential.
If creating a new map is not feasible, the devs could instead reuse the terrain from the first season of 1.16 aka first season of Classic SkyBlock 1.9+.
PvP-related rewards from events like minigames, chat games, and KOTH should be buffed. They may seem decent at launch, but within a week they become useless. Instead, rewards should scale weekly just like seasonal crate loot to keep things valuable over time and maintain player motivation.
Reintroduce Protection 6 gear through envoy loot. A few seasons ago, Protection 8 was introduced and turned out to be too overpowered—especially since players didn’t die easily with resistance. Prot 6 is more balanced and gives fair PvP and long lasting fights especially since we no longer have resistance. It also promotes non-pay-to-win gameplay, since everyone has a chance at envoy drops.
(Optional feature) — Add 2–3 PvP Outposts inside the arena. These outposts can provide buffs like:
•Damage Boost
•Resistance
•EXP Boost or Money Boost
This encourages players to contest and hold areas in the PvP zone, promoting fights beyond just KOTH.
PvP pets should be removed. The newer players (newgens) may enjoy them because of their convenience or power, but players from older generations (like 2020 and earlier) see them as a pay-to-win feature that breaks the balance. Pets remove the skill gap—like restocking mid-fight—and feel out of place in a fair PvP system. Pets that help grinding or boost the economy are acceptable, but combat-based pets should be disabled.
Kit vouchers should not be usable during combat. Last season, some players were caught holding 16–32 kits, allowing them to survive indefinitely. This breaks balance and makes PvP unfair, especially in outnumbered or outgeared situations.
Add a bounty system, where players can set bounties on others. This will add competitiveness and give the community more reasons to engage in PvP. It also allows players to hunt targets for fame and potential rewards.
Host a LMS (Last Man Standing) event at the end of every active season. It gives players a meaningful goal for all their grind, instead of the season ending quietly. It makes PvP gear and effort feel like it had a purpose.
Wind Charges should be banned from SkyBlock. Even though they haven’t been added yet, preemptively preventing them is important. Players would just glide away constantly, ruining both terrain strategy and any meaningful combat chases. It would ruin one of the key features of this proposed map system.
Lastly, to give players something to show off for their PvP grind, add Seasonal PvP Cosmetic Rewards such as:
Kill tags (e.g., "
Blood King")

Animated armor skins (cosmetic only)
Exclusive emotes or kill effects
These do not impact gameplay but reward dedication.
At the end of every season, top three player with either the highest kdr , highest Killstreak or highest kill gets the tag.
Reason(s):
- Revives what made early SkyBlock PvP fun and fair.
- Prevents broken or unbalanced systems from returning (Prot 8, Pets, Wind Charges).
- Adds weekly progression incentives to keep players interested.
- Makes the PvP system more anti-pay-to-win.
- Encourages events, fights, and end-of-season excitement with bounties, outposts, and LMS.
- Balances the game for both casual and competitive players.
- Builds a deeper PvP identity for the gamemode.
Example(s):
Arena Map: 350x350 with terrain and trees that players can use for strategy.
Outposts: Buff area with a 3-minute cooldown; holding it gives +10% EXP or +15% damage for 10 minutes.
Prot 6 Gear: Available in envoys with 2–5% drop chance; no more Prot 8 gear.
Kit Vouchers: Blocked while in combat for 20 seconds.
Bounty System: Set $50,000 bounty on player; killing them drops reward.
LMS Event: Last week of the season, top 3 get exclusive kill effects or gold.
PvP Cosmetics: Top 3-10 killers of the season receive red-glow animated armor skin usable next season.
