Leaves destroyer MOD

So, recently I noticed that when I am trying to harvest leaves they get like insta obliterated and not only 1 tree but each tree that has the leaves connected to it, I guess is because of the Lumberjack skill lvl 25, should be an option to activate or deactivate that when needed...
I am trying to figure out how to turn that insanity off bcuz I cant build without leaves!!

Please help me...

I tried to cut the tree trunk first and then Silk Touch the leaves but they still get all destroyed at once.
Is there a way to go around this?

Use shears for the leaves for do not cut the trunk just go to the tree and break the leaves
