I dont think there is a best way to combo
Just use the method u r most comfortable with

As for me, I used w-tap and strafe

I do strafe and block hits and Its really good you should try it :)

If you are talking about bedwars, then usually I would place blocks to stop my opponent's movement, then strafe+blockhit him. Usually would Wtap if i wanna throw him to the void.

If you are talkig about skywars, then just spam your snowball, eggs, or rod. Then w tap to knock the opponet of the void.
