/Warp mine:
This is the most capable way of earning money. /warp mine. Because it only costs $750,000 and it can get you up to $10,000,000+ (I always go for the Diamond blocks first)...
As part of it, change the Blocks into pieces because of what @Haoiscoll posted here...

And if you're even lucky to find lucky blocks in the area. But i am warning you Make sure that there is a room for that so that it won't fall off your inventory (Happens to me most of the times if i get key/s)
/AH selling:
The next thing... /ah. It is the best way to gather money too. Well... If i can auction everything i have. LOL.
Sell things that are uncommon (not nether star)
like spawners, Customizes enchants on pickaxes, or some tokens, etc.
But look closely for the price and the item so that you wouldn't be scammed. :)
Farming & Grinding:
My most favorite things. Farming sucarcanes, Cactus farm, Grinders are the least way to get money....
