I have Two accounts verified for VPN use, but whenever I connect to a VPN server in a country that should give me around 40 ms ping, such as the Netherlands, my ping instead shows 200 ms. I would appreciate any help in resolving this issue. Additionally, if you could recommend a good VPN, I would be grateful. I currently use ProtonVPN, which is pretty easy to use and highly customizable. If there’s any way to lower my ping, that would be awesome. Please tell me if you know how to lower my ping from 131 to 40. My current ping is 131 ms, my internet speed is pretty good though. Thanks for reading!

VPNs don't work like you are thinking. Changing your location to a country closer to the host doesn't mean that you will get the same ping as a player from that country. VPNs just change the traffic's route from your pc to the host to your pc then the VPN server, and finally the host. The traffic still has to travel from your pc to the server host; VPN just changes its route. You will notice very minor improvement in your ping if you are using a VPN with very less server load, but the VPN you mentioned is a free VPN and isn't well suited for gaming. It's servers are always overloaded due to high usage, and that causes your ping to increase instead of decreasing.
