Hello. I would like to bring up a very important problem with the roofing on one of the buildings in the Practice lobby. Under the roof overhang at -1046, 47, -343, there is a noticeable gap that directly exposes the interior brickwork of the building. This is on both sides of this roof section, and if it is not fixed soon, there could be some devastating consequences.

RoofIssue2.png
Using standard Minecraft measurements, 1 Block = 1 Meter = 3.28 Feet. The exposed void seems to offer about .5 meters (1.64 feet) of vertical clearance under the roof structure. While this may seem pretty insignificant to the ordinary person, I am very well-trained in roofing, and I know that roofs should be fully enclosed and offer solid structural integrity.

To quote the International Building Code (IBC):
IBC said:
Roof assemblies shall be constructed to maintain the integrity of the building envelope and prevent unintended openings

Additionally, general construction standards emphasizes:
General Construction Standards said:
Exterior roof overhangs must be properly sealed to prevent exposure of interior structural components.

Currently, this part of the roof does not live up to the basic expectations of roofing. This gap affects the structural integrity, reveals interior materials, and disrupts the intended structural aesthetic of the building.

For a comparison, below is how the roof looks when properly installed:
RoofIssue3.png
Please note the fully enclosed bottom and lack of interior exposure. This example shows how roofing should be done correctly and in accordance with all necessary principles.

Although the immediate danger of weather intrusion may be small, given that it never rains in the practice lobby, the presence of a 0.5-meter structural gap below a roof assembly is a very serious question regarding the long-term architectural viability of this building. Especially when you take into account that this roof is a part of the parkour route, constantly having players running on this roof is bound to keep damaging this over the long-term.

Structural failures have, in many instances throughout history, begun with “just a small gap.” Don't let this be one of those cases.
I respectfully ask the staff team to examine this roofing issue and bring the structure into compliance for the safety and peace of mind of all Practice players.

Pika, please fix.

Hello!
I don't believe the issue stated above is a bug, however I think that the gap would definitely allow for bugs such as silverfish to crawl right into the roof, and that would be a disaster! Could you image if an infestation started in the roof of the building? If that happens I'll definitely have to make a report, just to pest control..

Crikey, these gaps are scarier than a clown at a kid's birthday bash! Seems like these modern construction crews are playing Jenga with our buildings, and frankly, their quality control is napping on the job. If this whole thing crumbles, it's not just bricks falling, it's curtains for everyone inside!

It can also allow a bunch of cockroaches to move inside, making people leave because they are scared. Imagine a cockroach falling into your head 😢

Hello, as a professional building constructor I am here to inform you that the mentioned situation reflects a huge problem for residents. A expanding damage due to weather circumstances might be irreversible. Due to the unstable architecture and players putting pressure on the roof constantly, this causes, according to Newton, the roof to sink overtime, sqeezing the residents slowly but surely.
As every minecraft character weighs 648kg (1.8m * 0.6m * 0.6m * 1000kg/m³) their legs have put a force of 6,356 Newtons (F = m * g) on the roof.
All those 6,356 Newtons are forced on 0.6m * 0.6m, causing the roof to break overtime.

This issue has to be fixed as quickly as possible. Thanks to @Zapril for mentioning this!

I’m very glad there is another professional in the field on the forums who could back up my claims and also provide some extra insight. Thank you!

Thank you for your extremely thorough and courageous investigative report regarding the Practice Lobby Roofing Situation™.

After an extensive internal review conducted by our highly certified team of Minecraft Structural Engineers (who definitely exist), we have reached the following conclusions:

1. Structural Integrity Assessment
Our experts examined the 0.5-meter (1.64-foot) vertical clearance under the roof overhang at -1046, 47, -343. After careful observation, squinting, and one dramatic gasp, we can confirm:

The building is, in fact, still building.
No bricks have resigned.
No slabs have filed complaints.
No overhang has unionized.

At this time, the exposed brickwork appears to be emotionally stable.

2. Code Compliance Review
While we deeply respect the International Code Council and the sacred teachings of the International Building Code, our legal team has clarified that:
  • The Practice Lobby is located in the sovereign territory of Creative Mode.
  • Gravity is optional.
  • Weather intrusion has been permanently disabled.
As such, the roof remains in full compliance with §1.8.9 of the Minecraft Existential Stability Act.

3. Long-Term Risk Analysis
You are absolutely correct that many historic failures began with “just a small gap.”

However, after reviewing thousands of documented Minecraft catastrophes, we have determined that the leading causes of structural collapse are:
  1. Creepers
  2. TNT
  3. “Oops”
This roof currently shows no signs of any of the above.

4. Aesthetic Considerations
The gap in question has been reclassified as:

“Intentional Ventilation Feature”

This improves airflow, reduces slab claustrophobia, and enhances the rustic-industrial vibe of the structure.

We sincerely appreciate your dedication to architectural excellence and your unwavering commitment to player safety. Please continue reporting any additional half-block irregularities, suspicious fence alignments, or emotionally unstable stair placements.
The roof will remain under observation.
Pika respectfully acknowledges your concern.

Hello Surbate,

I appreciate the rapid response from the Pika staff team and how quickly they got in contact with all of the necessary professionals in required fields as it pertains to this matter. I have taken everything you've said into account and am willing to accept the results of your combined internal reports. Despite this fact however, I will remain slightly worried. The past couple of nights I've been having nightmares of this building collapsing, and having sudden flashes throughout the day. These will not just go away as the result of your report. However I will be seeing someone who claims they will be able to help with these visions.

I would just like to quote the International Council on Preventative Roofing Measures (ICPRM):
ICPRM said:
Just because collapse is unlikely does not mean it is impossible.

Given that this roof is part of an active parkour route, repeated player traversal may introduce micro-vibrational stress over time. These stresses, though invisible, are rarely cooperative. This functions similar to erosion on rocks throughout MANY years of weather damage.

I will continue monitoring the site. Not because I want to. But because someone must.

The roof may remain standing today, but fast forward a few years and who knows. One thing is for sure sure though, history remembers the ones who spoke up.

Respectfully,
Zapril - Concerned Regular Citizen of Practice
