You could get a minecraft client that has special fps options. You could also lookup youtube videos to improve fps. Last of all you could upgrade your computer.

lunar client. legit i found it gives the most fps (also disable glint for even more fps), and if ur cracked theres a cracked lunar version which u drag into ur versions folder, and that propably gives more fps since there is less mods

Its easy, I have low FPS PC and I still can play 1.8.9 really smooth.

Here what I did:

> Settings
- Use Lunar Client
- Graphic set to Fast
- Render Distance 8 - 12 ( Affect a lot )
- Smooth Lightning Minimum or Off
- Dynamic Light Fast or Off
- Max Framerate Unlimited

> Details

- Clouds Off
- Tree Fast or Smart ( Affect a lot on maps with leaves )
- Sky Off
- Fog Off
- Vignette Fast
- Cloud Height Off
- Fog Start 0.2 ( If Off then this is not needed )
- Smooth Biomes OFF

> Animations

- Particles all Decreased
- All OFF

> Quality

- Better Grass, Snow OFF
- Custom Sky OFF ( This one affect a lot )

> Performance & Other Settings - Its up to you, it doesn't affect much here but some of them could help

> Texture Packs
- 8px / 16px Texture Packs helps a lot on reducing lags duce to smoother and less pixelated Textures

Without any of these I get around 60 - 70 FPS
With these I get around 100 - 150 FPS

Your PC also affect this, better graphic card will have better performance
Server Ping Issue or Country Ping Issue also affect on gameplay

I use Salwyrr client and optimize my video settings. And if you have programs running in the background while playing Minecraft, I suggest you close all of them. Those affect on your client's performance by a lot.

If you want higher fps just lower your resolution/graphics settings and put them all none/zero.
