Op Factions rn Feels completely different than back in the day....
Hackers are everywhere and it's not even the same kind of blatant cheating anymore, before people would rage hack openly and actually get banned fast because staff were active, responding to reports, keeping things under control

(I even remember whenever some is "maybe" cheating I would /staff search for mod to tell him and he would be spectating the player right away, rn I don't remember the last time I /staff and found someone

Now it feels like the opposite. A lot of cheaters try to stay lowkey with soft aim, auto clickers, and crits and because moderation isn’t as active as it used to be, most of them just keep playing untouched. You rarely see any staff member online in op fac and that alone changes the atmosphere of the game

On top of that, they added insanely overpowered stuff that can kill you in 3 shots or instantly melt you. I personally have issues with that balance-wise, but that’s not even the main point here. The real issue is how hackers abuse these weapons because it makes cheating almost impossible to detect. When everyone dies instantly anyway, it becomes way harder to tell whether someone is just using broken gear or actually cheating.

Back then, blatant hackers stood out because fights lasted long enough for people to notice unnatural aim or tracking. Now someone can hide behind overpowered Items and 3 tap you while looking “legit” on the surface, while you can tell he is hacking but you can't prove it as the fight doesn't go for long enough

Before, there was at least a feeling that admins cared and that if someone was obviously cheating, action would be taken. Today people report the same names over and over and nothing really changes. The community notices it, and it slowly kills the competitive side of the game because legit players stop taking the game mode seriously, or worst they themselves start cheating.

And honestly, as someone who has been playing since 2017, it’s genuinely sad to watch this happen. This is the gamemode and server I stuck with for years, even after quitting Minecraft and coming back multiple times. No matter what other games I played, I always ended up returning because OP Fac used to have something special about it. Seeing it slowly turn into this state after being part of the community for so long is disappointing more than anything.

And lastly, I would genuinely love to suggest some solutions and even be part of improving things, because I want newer players to experience the same fun and memories I had on Pika back in the day. I’m not making this thread just to complain, I’m making it because I still care about the server and want to see OP Fac become enjoyable again for both old and new players.

,

Thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed and constructive thread. I want to address your concerns directly from a staff perspective, as well as share what we are doing behind the scenes.

While I cannot perfectly compare today's atmosphere to years past since I wasn't originally a dedicated Factions player myself, I completely understand why it feels like staff presence is low. The reality of the current moderation is that the days of blatant rage hacking are mostly gone; as you mentioned, closets cheaters are more common, because of this, to be honest with you monitoring this gamemode has also became much harder.

It is true that most often if you would like to search for a staff member from /staff, it is possible that you cannot find one, as a massive portion of our work has to happen completely out of sight. We spend a significant amount of time vanished, recording, and screen-sharing potential cheaters to catch these closet cheaters. To give you some context on the scale of this, we have issued around 20 faction-wide-cheating strikes last map alone. A lot of this goes unnoticed by the general player base because we can't actively chat or hang out while we are investigating. Between monitoring, handling tickets, processing reports, and managing appeals, our current resources are heavily tied up in the administrative side of keeping things running.

That being said, we do hear you. We hope to optimize things internally to better increase our visible presence on the server to monitor the gamemode.

As for your points regarding the PvP mechanics with the weapons, while I am a staff member and do not handle the direct development or technical PvP balancing myself, I highly encourage you and other veteran players sharing the feeling to provide suggestions on it.

Thank you again for your loyalty to PikaNetwork over all these years and for speaking up on behalf of the community.
Have fun playing on PikaNetwork!

Best regards,

I appreciate the respectful response and the transparency regarding how moderation currently works behind the scenes.

I completely understand that closet cheating is much harder to detect than the old blatant rage hacking era, and I also understand that a lot of staff work now happens vanished or through screenshares/investigations rather than visibly being online.

I think the main issue from the player perspective is more about perception and overall gameplay experience. Even if bans and faction strikes are happening internally, many legit players still constantly encounter suspicious players in PvP, especially with the current fast-paced and high-damage meta. Because fights end so quickly now, it becomes extremely difficult for regular players to distinguish between skill, overpowered gear, and subtle cheats.

That combination creates a feeling that cheating is “everywhere,” even if staff are actively working behind the scenes. Over time, that feeling alone can damage the competitive environment because players lose trust in fights being legitimate.

I’m glad to hear the team is aware of the visibility issue, and I genuinely think increasing staff interaction or presence in OP Factions, even occasionally, could help community confidence a lot.

Regarding balancing, I’ll definitely consider making a separate suggestion thread with ideas about PvP pacing and weapon balance, because I honestly believe longer and more skill-based fights would naturally make cheating easier to detect for both players and staff. As well as a "Trusted community representative role" I am currently working on that I think would make a huge difference

Thank you again for taking the time to respond seriously.

Much love to the staff and community,
-NightWalker
