Sponges and chests

When im in the mine i sometimes find sponges. Is there any use for them? Also when im mining sometimes i find chest but when i right click them it just gives me the message, "Hey! Sorry but you cant open that here. Is it a bug or something cuz earlier i opened them and it actually gave me rewards but now its just giving me that message.

Hello Rando69,
The Sponges gives you a small amount of tokens once you break them,
And the Chest Message your getting might means that this chest is not spawned for you but to another player inside the same mine.

Basically the message you get is quite common , according to my own experience there is only 1 in a 10 chance that you get a reward from that.
If you want to find a lot more chests, enchant your pickaxe with treasure seeker enchant. It would help you find more and more chests and make the chances of getting rewards from each chest much better.
