From what I'm able to tell, if you're in 1.8 carpets act like slabs, wherein 1.16 they don't. Somehow this messes with the server and gets you stuck.​

Better suggestion would be to keep carpets bug make anticheat better however I like this suggestion +1

+1 Yes sometimes carpets , slabs and any type of these blocks can get you stuck / teleport you back.

I don't get stuck in carpets. Maybe that's because I play in 1.8.9. My friends play in 1.16.x and they always get stuck in carpets.
