Hello there,

Because of all of the new upcoming resets, suggestions, comments, discussions, etc... I have noticed that some things are being put in the wrong section and the forums are a tad bit messy organizational wise. Here is my suggestion of how things could be set up to bring back some order and keep things organized a bit better.

  • General
    • News
    • Site/Forum Suggestions (Not server specific suggestions)
    • Pika-Network Discussion (General Discussion Forum not server specific)
    • Rules & Information (All rules for each server be posted in one thread. Links to each servers Rules which are actually posted in the corresponding server under the games forums)
    • Events
  • Development
    • Information (Locked Forum. This should be for announcing server resets, and announcing new plugins such as PAC etc etc.)
    • Maintenance (Locked Forum. This should only be for alerting people when a server is going to undergo regular maintenance)
    • Changelog (Locked Forum. This should only to be updating people of changes not discussion of changes. This should be done in the "Suggestions/Improvement sub-forums in each game forum. [see below])
  • Games
    • Skywars
      • Suggestions/Improvements
      • Known Issues (Locked Forum, posts should be updated from the "server reports" department in the "Support Ticket" portion of the site)
      • Reports (This is where you report players specific for your server. Reports for players or users that have to deal with the forums should be managed using the "report" button on each post.)
    • (Continue for each game available. Add in a Suggestions/Improvements, Known Issues, and Reports Sub-Forum)
  • Ban Appeals & Staff Application Submission (Notice change in name)
  • Ban Appeal's & Applications (Remove the "reports" forum as each report forum is now server specific and is under the games forum)
  • Off-Topic
    • YouTube Forum
    • Builders Forum
    • Introduce Yourself
    • Off-Topic (Notice the "-")
These are just some small changes. I know that the staff are probably used to the way things are by now, however I have replied to in the last 24-36 hours about 15 posts that have been posted in the wrong section and might be overlooked. Having player reports overlooked obviously isn't a good thing. I would suggest creating a "Forum Staff" rank where it's only the forum where that rank has moderation powers which could include Moving a Thread, Locking a Thread, Muting a User from posting for x number of days, Banning Users, Archiving Threads (Not deleting but this option would be for getting rid of thread that are old or have gotten way off topic it would move them to a Archived Forum), and being able to read support tickets under the Site Issues and Other departments.

Anyone want to join in this discussion? Keep it positive and constructive. No negative posts please.

DJ

Good idea the forums are getting messy sometimes but forum staff would be great people who are experienced ingame or on the forums and can give you helpful tips and keep everything running because understandably staff are busy.

I really like your rearrangement. I would like to propose some changes to make it more intuitive to the average noob like me tho. I wont quote your entire post, just the parts that i would change, the ones i dont mention i agree to:

  • Development
    • Information (Locked Forum. This should be for announcing server resets, and announcing new plugins such as PAC etc etc.)
    • Maintenance (Locked Forum. This should only be for alerting people when a server is going to undergo regular maintenance)
I think that servers resets, and shutdowns should be on the News forum. Its more intuitive to the average player to join News to see what new relevant things are happening in pika. Placing them on Development seems counterintuitive to me, an average noob like me doesnt go under development that much.
Games
I really like having each server its own suggestions subforum. I only play factions and usually when I go to suggestions i have to scroll down and read each title looking for factions suggestion, same with reports. The only downside for this is that the Staff now will have to go through every subforum to look for new reports and look on suggestions.
I would like to add that on this Games forum Factions and Op Factions should have each its own subforum. Right now theyre together and many ppl dont make a distinction on their posts so you end up not knowing if theyre talking about op or normal facs.
I would also add a locked subforum for each "Game" called Rules/Information witch locked threads containing the specific rules for that game, the how to play, and also important news for that specific game. This may sound redundant since theres already a Rules forum and a News forum but i think it will reduce the usual "i didnt know, where is it?" I noticed how u kinda mentioned this on the Rules/information :"...Links to each servers Rules which are actually posted in the corresponding server under the games forums", but you didnt make a subforum for it, perhaps u had a locked thread in mind, wich I guess it fulfills the same purpose.

As I was writing this I realized that, actually your original rearrangement is great, and it seemed that all the points that i was making were to dumb it down for noobs like me, when I shouldnt since organizing is to create a structure to find a place for elements following rules. Thats in my opinion what made your post refreshing, the rules (the text in italic). Which is why i think that regardless of what arrangement the forums should have there must be rules for it to serve as a guide for ppl who want to post something, instead of using common sense. So i would say that this rules should have a place in the General Rules & Information.

Anyways, nice post mate. Good luck, have fun.

i like the idea locking the forum to represent the maintanence the problem is not enough people from the community go on the website and even if we wrote all over this website eg. Creative Reset-9.5.16 there would be players on creative like when is reset but i think an issue which has been bought up and they are trying to fix it is the lack of information on when the resets are but i guess staff are busy atm and im sure they will fix very soon. Great ideas from both you and DJ :) i hope a admin sees this or dev.
