#looking-for-group with better rules​

Detailed description:

So recently, MrEpiko deleted the channel #looking-for-group
Reason: Too many people were botting!

And yes, he was actually right; there were too many bot accounts in that channel.
But you cannot just remove a channel like that. I think there should be some strict rules regarding that channel,

• Only Members with @Donator or @pika Thumb can send messages in chat
◦ Members who don't have those roles can only see the channel but cannot chat.


OR

• There will be a 6 hour slowmode in the channel
◦ 15 minutes of slowmode was pointless because everyone was just reposting their template. If someone wants to join a guild, they will see less duplicated templates from the same guild if there will be a 6-hour slowmode!​

Reason(s):

Reason is very obvious,

#looking-for-group was an easy way to get good players in a guild with no effort!
Also, PikaNetwork discord have more than 100k members...
People who just started their guild can get guild members through #looking-for-group

I will take my own guild example,

• The day before #looking-for-group channel was deleted, I got like 8 application in my guild from that channel through dms​

+1 I agree, as we all know that #looking-for-group makes it easy for new players to find guild, so that they too can join others players and make more friends online, which might make them play on pika network most, cuz they will have more friends on this server.

A 6 hour cooldown would make it very hard for new guilds to advertise, as the bigger guilds can just all post at once to flood all the other ones away, making their guild onto the front for a few hours.

I think the main reason behind making that channel was for people to find others to play gamemodes with and not necessarily guild invites. I don't know why people used to flood it with guild invites. But this might work.

This will affect and reduce a lot of traffic and botting on that channel with 6 hours of slow mode

Also talking about this, everyone will have 6 hours slow-mode so for new guild wouldn't be harder, because before everyone had 15 mins slowmode, in fact 15 minutes slowmode was much more Messy...

Pika Network Bot deletes the message if it is too long or it has more than 6 emojis, so not a problem with that!

Bigger guilds have more people that advertise, which was easily seen when the channel still existed. Smaller guilds which are only advertised by 2 people will be even harder to see than the guilds advertised by over 40 people.

This was indeed the initial idea - finding people to play with, not posting guild ads all the time. It served its purpose well until guilds were released, but it started deviating from it more and more as time went on. There were guilds with thousands of (identical) advertisements there which was never the intended use.

I have no comments on whether the suggestion will be implemented or not for now. The removal was very recent and we are not going to make any hasty decisions.

good idea, I think users with maybe only the donator rank should be allowed to type in that channel to combat the botting issue, some sort of compromise should be made

Then again, it defeats the main purpose of the channel, that is a channel for new members to find people to play with. They won't be able to access the channel if it happens.

No what? They can still see the channel, but cannot chat, they need @Donator role to start chatting in that channel, Read the suggestion carefully!
