Today we will discuss the story of iGhostly and his staff journey , Today marks his 1 yr resigned anniversary so hope you enjoy the interview....
1. Can you tell us what inspired you to be staff?
Ans- Well, the first inspiration, as in the first time I thought about becoming staff, came from seeing the admin rank on Discord stand out so much. That moment felt like the first spark. Following that, the main reason became helping the OpSb community. I wouldn’t say it was completely neglected, but I can say it wasn’t a top priority. There were many things that felt like a mess, and I thought that if I were staff, I could help fix them. From what I’ve heard through feedback, I believe I did as much as I could within my capacity. Maybe there were some mistakes, but for the most part, I did what I could right.
2. How do you think the staff team has changed since the time you joined and were staff?
Ans- I joined the staff team on November 20, 2022, and stayed until my last resignation on April 5, 2025, with over two years of active involvement. During that time, I’ve seen the staff at its peak, at its lowest, and everything in between, including how it is now .I don’t intend to criticize anyone here, but from my personal perspective, and from what I’ve heard from several former staff members, the team right now is highly functional and probably the most efficient it has ever been. However, I do feel that the “team” aspect in the staff team has changed. Not pointing at anyone specifically, but the sense of closeness and that feeling of “we are one” seems to have faded. I noticed this especially during my last return, and a few others have expressed similar thoughts as well. Personally, that shift was a bit disappointing for me and was one of the main reasons I decided to step away. It feels like things have become slightly more tense than they used to be, and while performance has improved, it seems to have come at the cost of team bonding, which I didn’t quite expect. Back in the earlier days, especially during the Frank era, the team felt much more closely connected. Even now, I’m still in touch with many of the older staff members, while I know far fewer of the newer ones, which kind of highlights that difference. That said, this is just my honest perspective, and I mean no disrespect to anyone.
3. What inspired your ign?
Ans- Well, Arrly and I were really close friends. You could say he was my closest friend while I was staff. We talked a lot, and he helped me throughout my journey with guidance and support, so I’m definitely thankful to him. Due to that closeness, I wanted a name that matched his “ly” theme. My original username was GhostyGhost, so I blended the two, which is how my current IGN came about.
4. Also if you don't mind why had you resigned from your position?
Ans- There were quite a few reasons behind my decision. Some of them are confidential, so I’m not able to go into detail, but a few I’ve already said on earlier. Overall, there were certain aspects of how things were handled that I found a bit disappointing, along with some ongoing differences in perspectives on specific topics.
Over time, these added up and made it harder for me to feel fully aligned with the role.
At the same time, I also felt that the position wasn’t the same for me personally as it once was, which played a part in my decision.
Another major factor was my academic workload. Being in my pre-final year at university, managing both responsibilities became increasingly difficult. In the end, it wasn’t a single issue, but rather a combination of multiple factors that led me to step away.
5. What was your favorite moment as a staff member?
Ans- Apart from promotions, which are a highlight for everyone, my favorite moments were the late night hours just talking with other staff. Those random conversations and time spent together made the experience feel a lot more enjoyable, and it’s honestly one of the few things I still miss. I also really value the moments when people appreciated my work and trusted me. Not bragging, but those small acknowledgments stuck with me, even now.
6. How was your experience as team skyblock member?
Ans- As I mentioned earlier, Skyblock was my primary reason for joining the staff team, so I spent most of my time there. It was the mode I was most familiar with and most invested in. I put a lot of effort into shaping rules and maintaining balance, especially since it was a competitive mode. I tried to keep things fair while still preserving what made it enjoyable. After I resigned, a lot of those systems were changed or removed, and the direction shifted quite noticeably. It went more towards what I’d expected might happen without that structure in place. Overall, I did enjoy my time as a Team Skyblock member. It was something I genuinely cared about, and I’m glad I got to contribute to it.
7. Do you miss pika and it's team?
Ans- Honestly, I don’t really miss Pika. I don’t hate it, but I also don’t love it the way I used to. I don’t even play Minecraft anymore, I’ve mostly moved on to real life. I am still happy for the memories, but now the paths are different, so no. About the team, most of the people I knew have already resigned. For me, it was always about the people, and over time the feeling around the team just isn’t the same as it used to be.
8. At last would you ever like to return?
Ans- Considering everything I’ve said above, it’s quite unlikely that I would return with how things are right now. Unless something changes significantly, which I don’t really see happening anytime soon, it’s doubtful. Some team members might understand one of the things I’m referring to, but that’s just a small part of a much bigger picture. There are several factors, and unless those are addressed, I don’t see myself coming back.
There is just so much data here that ig i dont need to write anything else, Hope you enjoyed the interview.
