Completely Overhaul PvP Arena
Detailed description:
I propose to make a complete rebuild of Survival's PvP arena to create more engagement, competition, and fun among players. The current PvP means, although limited in size and gameplay diversity, leaves plenty to be desired when one compares it with other Pika Network game modes like KitPvP and Lifesteal, which have far bigger and much more dynamic arenas.
The new PvP arena has to be bigger to allow strategic movement and different combat scenarios to take place. It should also come with a combat lock system that practically keeps players in the fight until combat ends once a player enters the PvP zone and is engaged in combat. The invisible barrier walls could pop-up temporarily to prevent players from exiting the designated PvP zone during combat.
Reason(s):
The larger arena encourages exploration, positioning tactics, and setups of different playstyles as opposed to repetitive close-combat.
The combat-lock system shall protect players against unfair escapes from fights, thus obtaining more skill-based PvP.
KitPvP and Lifesteal run big arenas with modern PvP kits. Elevating Survival PvP to that level would give Pika Network servers a more uniform feel.
Example(s):
With an approach similar to KitPvP and Lifesteal, the Survival PvP arena could consist of several landscape features, including open fields for mace combat, little elevation for throwing tridents, and some places with cover for positional movement.
Invisible barrier walls would appear along the boundary of the PvP zone whenever two players enter combat, preventing them from leaving until the combat ends. This is very similar to competitive-type servers in which players are locked into a fight.
