OpPrison - PikaNetwork 2025
May 23rd, 2025, a brand new OpPrison
This is a different type of post than you would usually see for a reset, and this is due to how big of an update we have in store for you at the new season of OpPrison.
We have decided to give OpPrison a well deserved complete makeover, from new gameplay, to new mechanics, a new ranking system, new currencies, and much more.
To not overwhelm everyone we have decided to split up the reset posts in different parts, and we will put out a shorter release announcement post with the official release time at May 23rd.
With these release changelogs we hope to get you all hyped up and ready to get grinding within this new OpPrison season.
So, let's dive straight in to the first release changelog, where we go over the basics of the gamemode.

We’re making a big change to OpPrison to ensure we can continue delivering quality content and new features.
From now on, OpPrison will only support Minecraft versions 1.19 and above.

This means we will be dropping support for older versions, allowing us to focus on newer mechanics, better performance, and more exciting content that the latest updates have to offer.
By leaving behind outdated versions, we can fully utilize modern features and improve the overall gameplay experience.
We understand this might be disappointing for some legacy version users, but this change is essential to keep OpPrison innovative and fresh.

And for those wondering, what about the PvP? For this season we have decided to continue with the 1.8 PvP as close as possible.
While the server will continue running on 1.19+, the PvP mechanics have been adjusted to mimic an almost perfect version of 1.8 combat.
Here’s an overview of changes that have been made to the combat system to make it feel as close to 1.8 as possible:

We want to thank every player for their continued support in the OpPrison gamemode, but after years it's time for a fresh start, this upgrade sets us up for a lot of crazy new content coming in the future of OpPrison, we hope you are as excited as we are.

A new season means a brand-new spawn, and this time we’re going for that classic prison vibe!

To really bring back the old-school prison feeling, we’ve designed the spawn with a traditional prison theme — but with a twist.
We’re making use of all the new blocks and decorations from the latest Minecraft version to give it a modern look.

OpPrison has always been about mining for progression, but recent updates have shifted the focus away from this core aspect.
We want to bring back the good old days where mining was at the heart of OpPrison — where grinding your way through the mines felt rewarding and purposeful.
That’s why we’re completely revamping the mining experience to put the focus back on mining as the primary progression path.

To make mining feel more personal and efficient, we’re introducing Private Mines for everyone.
Your private mine is yours alone — it’s bound to your player and your progression. You cannot build inside it, only mine.
The old cell system has been removed and merged into this new private mine concept, making the experience more streamlined and focused on mining.

Your mine’s blocks will automatically adapt to your current prestige level, giving a clear sense of progression as you level up.
Additionally, the mining process itself has been overhauled:

Since prestiging is now automatic and mining progress-based, money has been removed from OpPrison.
To keep the gamemode simple and easy to understand, tokens will be the main currency moving forward.

The prestige system in OpPrison has been completely reimagined to make mining more rewarding and streamlined.
As you mine blocks, they are automatically converted to tokens based on their value, and you will automatically progress towards your next prestige.
This means you no longer need to sell blocks manually — every block mined directly contributes to your prestige progress.

Once you reach Prestige 500, you unlock the ability to Ascend.
Ascending resets your prestige back to 0, but it also grants access to powerful new upgrades that get better as you continue to Ascend higher.
However, you can choose to keep prestiging up to Prestige 7500 before ascending, as higher prestige levels increase your mine block quality, giving you more tokens and beacons per block mined.

Every time you Ascend, you unlock unique boosts that make progression faster and more efficient.
These upgrades are locked behind specific ascension levels, giving you even more goals to strive for:

This new Prestige and Ascension system gives you a clear path to progress, rewarding dedicated miners with more power and efficiency the higher they climb.
Keep mining, keep prestiging, and Ascend to unlock even greater potential!

The Quarry is a brand-new feature designed to help you mine EXP passively in OpPrison.
It only becomes available when you reach Prestige 100, giving you a powerful way to earn EXP without actively mining.

Instead of collecting Tokens, the Quarry mines EXP. For every 5 blocks your quarry breaks, you will gain 1 EXP.
To keep the Quarry running, you’ll need fuel. Each fuel unit provides 30 seconds of quarry time, so you’ll need 120 fuel to run it for 1 hour.
More details about the different types of fuel will be shared in another changelog soon.

The Quarry activates every 30 seconds, breaking a block in the middle of the mine all the way down to the bottom.
It creates a straight line down, which increases in size as you level it up:
- Starts as a 1x1 straight line.
- Upgrades to 2x2, 3x3, 4x4, 5x5, and so on, up to a 25x25 maximum size.
You must be inside your cell for the Quarry to work. It only collects EXP and does not reset when you Ascend, keeping your progress intact.

Introducing the Booster Crystal, a special feature to supercharge your mining experience!
Every 15 minutes, a Booster Crystal will spawn at the edge of your mine. You have 15 seconds to break the crystal before it disappears, so act fast!

Breaking the crystal will grant you one of the following powerful boosts:

Keep an eye out for the Booster Crystal and be ready to break it for a chance at one of these game-changing boosts!

But that's all for this first changelog post, I hope you are already getting as hyped as we are for this release.
If you’re curious about more updates and features, leave a like on this post!
We’ll be posting a new changelog very soon, where we’ll dive deeper into progression, pickaxe enchants, currencies, warzone, autominer, and crates.
