Development/Test Server
Detailed description:
I suggest adding a separate "Development Server" (test.pika-network.net / dev.pika-network.net) where players can experiment with commands and permissions., Each player could be granted full permissions of admins or a specific permission, like granting ranks, levels, items , ptr ... etc for a limited time (for example, 1 hour per day.) The server would reset frequently (daily or weekly) to prevent abuse and ensure a fresh environment. This server would be strictly for learning, testing, hunting bugs and experimenting without affecting the main network.
Speaking as a former server owner/ developer for other multiplayer games, I’ve seen firsthand how valuable this kind of setup can be. Having a “clone” of the main network ( with limited permissions ) not only helps staff and developers discover bugs faster, but it also increases player engagement by allowing them to preview and test upcoming features. It gives players a controlled way to explore aspects of the game that may normally take weeks of grinding to reach making them even more excited and motivated to experience it legitimately on the live servers. (more on example)
Reason(s):
- Encourages creativity and learning , players can explore mechanics, commands, and plugins they normally wouldn’t have access to.
- Reduces the risk of abuse on the main servers since testing happens in a separate environment.
- Builds community engagement by letting players experiment and even suggest new content ideas.
- Attracts players interested in learning more about server management, plugin development, potentially creating future staff members.
- Keeps the main servers focused on gameplay while still offering a place for experimentation.
Example(s):
- Testing redstone machines, specific server features, or new updates before playing the gamemode itself.
- Trying endgame content such as Skymines bosses without needing max level.
- Simulating new gamemode ideas with full permissions before suggesting them officially.
- Exploring permissions, ranks, and kits in a controlled environment to better understand how they work.
- Frequent resets prevent long-term abuse — if the world is overloaded with mobs or corrupted chunks, it automatically refreshes.
- Testing newly added features, items, skins, or kits before they appear on the main network.
