This thread explains the ins and outs of the SkyMines server.

Introduction

SkyMines is a tycoon gamemode where you grind resources to upgrade your gear and fight other players or focus on peaceful mining & designing your own unique island. Explore different worlds, collect valuable ores to upgrade your tools and armor and become the most notable player on the server!

Suggested version: 1.20.1

Resources

This section explains resources on SkyMines.

Resources play a big factor in the economy & your success. There are 13 mineable resources:
  • Dirt
  • Stone
  • Coal
  • Iron
  • Gold
  • Diamond
  • Lapis Lazuli
  • Redstone
  • Emerald
  • Netherite
  • Obsidian
  • Crying Obsidian
  • Amethyst
  • Beacon
All resources share two common properties: Compressed Item and Compressed Block.

Compressing & decompressing resources
Most upgrades require compressed resources - view the table below for more information! Use the command /compactables to automatically compact all eligible resources in your inventory.

Compressed itemsCompressed blocksDecompressing resources
Compressed items are obtained by having a stack (64) of the same resource in your inventory (/warp oresconverter).Compressed blocks are obtained by having a stack (64) of the same compressed resource in your inventory (/warp oresconverter). To decompress a resource, find the decompressed version of your resource (/warp oresconverter) and decompress it the same way you would compress it.

Worlds

SkyMines has three worlds: Overworld, Nether, and End.
  • Every world has several islands, most having cubes with special ores you can mine and a shop containing exclusive items.
  • Every world has its own outpost, each providing special rewards. Every outpost has a capture cooldown of one hour.
Click a button below to learn more about a world!

Overworld

The Overworld is the starting area of SkyMines. When you first join the server, or visit /spawn, you will be stationed in the Overworld. PvP combat is enabled beyond the Stone and Coal cubes. Additionally, the AFK pit can be found behind the spawn point. The longer you stay in the AFK pit, the more rewards you can receive! (/playtimerewards | /warp afkpit)

Inside of the overworld spawn island, you can find and interact with numerous NPCs:
  • Classes NPC (/classes)
  • Shop NPC (/shop)
  • Upgrader NPC (/upgrader)

Competition

SkyMines is a competitive gamemode.

Payouts
By ranking 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in /island top through beacons, you may be eligible for /payout.

Bi-weekly payouts
Every two weeks, except for the last two weeks of the season, there will be a regular, bi-weekly, payout. Here's how it works:
  • There are a total of five bi-weekly payout cycles. Every cycle lasts two weeks.
  • The top three islands at the end of each payout cycle gets awarded in Pika Iron.
  • Island ranking is determined by the number of beacons each island has collected by the end of the payout cycle.
  • The Pika Iron expires after seven days have passed, starting from the day the Pika Iron was credited to the winner's balance.
  • The Pika Iron rewards get larger as more payout cycles pass.
Final payout
At the end of the season, there is a final payout. Here's how it works:
  • The final payout is the last payout of the season - starting after the second to last payout cycle and ending two weeks later.
  • On the final payout day (found in /payout), the total amount of beacons collected over the entire season are tallied to determine the three winners of the final payout.
  • Similar to the bi-weekly payouts, winners are credited Pika Iron.
  • The Pika Iron expires after seven days have passed, starting from the day the Pika Iron was credited to the winner's balance.
  • The final Pika Iron rewards are the largest out of all payout cycles. (up to €200 worth of Pika Iron!)
You can view your island's ranking via the /is top command.

What are beacons?
A beacon is a resource that spawns throughout the Overworld. They are most commonly found inside of the ground or in the side of terrain/structures. The statistic version of the beacon can only be obtained through mining a previously described beacon. A mined beacon appears as a block of bedrock; it can take up to a few minutes for it to respawn. Upon mining a spawned beacon, you will be credited one beacon - which you can deposit to your island. To deposit beacons to your island, first ensure that you are a member of an island (by either joining a player's island or creating your own via /is create), then visit said island (/is visit) and right click the beacon that is labeled as "Island Crystals." From there, left click the flower labeled "Beacons" and enter the number of beacons that you want to deposit. You cannot deposit beacons that you do not own. Click HERE for a demonstration video on depositing beacons.

What is Pika Iron?
Pika Iron, similar to Pika Gold, is a temporary currency that can be used to purchase items from the /goldshop across most gamemodes. You can obtain Pika Iron by voting (/vote), winning payouts (/payout), or receiving a duplicate VIP rank from the vote crate in the PikaNetwork lobby (/lobby).
