Improve PvP Arena Design
Detailed description:
Currently, the PvP arena allows players to easily escape combat using stairs or simple one-block jumps, making it feel uncompetitive and unbalanced. I suggest the following improvements:
- Prevent arena exits during combat: Players should only be allowed to leave the PvP arena once an "out of combat" timer expires, ensuring fair fights and reducing abuse of terrain to escape.
- Increase arena size: The current map is too small for proper PvP. A larger space would provide room for movement, strategy, and skill expression.
- Add parkour features: Like in the first season of Skyblock 1.16, bring back parkour elements that add dynamic gameplay and movement skill challenges.
- Improve arena design: Remove or redesign current stair and jump placements that allow unintended and easy escapes.
- Spectator/Viewing Zone: Add a raised or separated viewing area where non-participating players can watch ongoing fights without interfering. This enhances the arena’s social and community aspect.
Reason(s):
- Promotes fair combat by preventing players from running away too easily.
- Encourages skillful play, including movement, positioning, and parkour.
- Improves overall experience by bringing back the well-received design from Season 1.
- Creates a more balanced PvP environment, especially for players who want competitive fights.
- Reduces abuse and trolling: Easy escape routes can be exploited by players to bait others into combat, only to flee instantly. A proper system reduces this toxic behavior and improves the quality of fights.
- Increases risk-reward factor: When players can't escape instantly, entering the PvP arena becomes a meaningful decision. This adds weight to PvP and makes it more engaging and rewarding.
- Improves server reputation: A well-designed, balanced PvP system encourages both casual and competitive players to stay longer and invite others, improving community retention and word-of-mouth growth.
- Encourages team strategies: Larger arenas allow for multiple players to fight or team up, promoting coordination and fun group battles rather than cramped, chaotic skirmishes.
- Supports content creation: A visually appealing, balanced arena with proper mechanics makes for better clips, streams, and YouTube videos, indirectly promoting the server.
- Prevents gear abuse: Some players bring strong gear and escape when losing. Preventing easy exits helps balance risk, deters this kind of play, and increases fairness across gear levels.
Example(s):
- A new arena layout similar in size to Season 1's Skyblock PvP map, with varied terrain and parkour.
- A visible "Out of Combat" timer that activates once the player hasn't taken or dealt damage for a few seconds.
- Removal of direct escape routes like stairs or easy jumps, replaced with more secure arena boundaries.
