You don't get banned for using a vpn. If you use the same IP as someone who is IP banned, you will also be banned. If you do use a VPN, you will get anti-bot-filtered and you'll have to go to the discord and get that sorted. To summarize, they don't ban but you will not be able to join without being whitelisted first.
