I wish there to be a wider variety of ranked kits. As it stands, the variety is quite limited because some kits are listed multiple times.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As of now, there are 6 distinct ranked kits. 6 out of 12 available kits are unique.

  • Nodebuff [PotPvP, umbrella]
  • Gapple [Speed 2 & more hearts, umbrella]
  • BuildUHC [UHC, umbrella]
  • Bedfight [Bedwars1vs1, umbrella]
  • Pearlfight [Aura, umbrella]
  • Sumo [Sumo, umbrella]
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nodebuff is listed 3 times. 25% of all the available ranked kits are PotPvP
-Nodebuff -Debuff -AxePvP
You may wonder why I listed AxePvP.
At first glance, it would seem like AxePvP shouldn't be listed here because the inventory isn't filled with health potions, and you'd be right.
I would argue that AxePvP is somewhere in between 2 major unique kit umbrella kits. It is in between PotPvP and SoupPvP, more specifically it's in between the soup 1bar kit and the noblockhit variation of nodebuff.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gapple is listed 2 times. 16.7% of all the available ranked kits are Speed 2 & more hearts (just for clarification: only sword would be listed here if it had a ranked option)
-Gapple -Combo
You may wonder why I listed Combo.
The current Combo originated from Gapple, some german youtubers (austrian heritage) deleted the invulnerability codes and posted it online. At first, they played SG and Classic kits, but they soon realized that using speed 2 and notch apples would increase the fight duration and enabled them to do flight combos in which the opponent never touches the ground.
Ever since, servers all around the world adapted this idea, and it became more and more popular.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
BuildUHC is listed once
There isn't much to say besides that BuildUHC doesn't fit in any other besides its own category. Feel free to find a similar ranked kit on Pika-Practice.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bedfight is listed 3 times. 25% of all the available ranked kits are Bedwars.
-Bedfight -Voidfight -Bridge
You know what I'll say, [...]. Bridge is here because it has close ties to Bedwars. Bridge, much like AxePvP is in between 2 umbrella kits, Sumo and Bedwars1vs1.
Bedwars created many sub-kits, it would be nonsensical to list all of them up in this post. Feel free to put Bridge in either the Bedwars1vs1 or Sumo category, it doesn't change anything in my argument.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pearlfight is listed once
Much like BuildUHC there isn't a good category besides itself to put it in. I didn't put Pearlfight in the bedwars1vs1 category because Pearlfight originated from the Aura kit. It's a less advanced and much dumbed down Aura kit in spirit. The Aura category/kit became big about 8 years ago, as far as I am aware it originated in germany because a large group of german youtubers started the Aura project about 9 years ago. Many copycat projects originated afterward, additionally many servers created a Pearlfight kit because creating an authentic Aura experience would be too hard to recreate (but it has been done).
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sumo is listed 2 times. 16.7% of all the available ranked kits are Sumo
-Sumo -Battlerush
Battlerush is a more complex sumo kit. Bedwars has created many sub-category-kits, Sumo, Bedwars1vs1 and many more.
Just be glad I didn't put Sumo, Battlerush, Voidfight, Bedfight and Bridge in the same kit category. If I did, I had to say 41,7% of all the available ranked kits are in the Bedwars category.
And I do see a big enough difference to say they're distinct from on and other. It would be nonsensical to list all the kits together based on that logic. If I did that, I'd had to say BuildUHC is a SurvivalGames and by extension Hungergames kit, and PotPvP is a SoupPvP variation. (Hungergames HG, is Soup Free for all) {Fun fact: The Hungergames movie inspired the creation of HG. HG is typically soup because back in 2012 it was the easiest way to recreate the idea of a Battle Royale in a video game. Yes, minecraft had BattleRoyale 5 years before Pubg released in 2017.}
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Conclusion: Please add a larger variety of kits to the ranked queue, there are many unused categories. Just to list a few: there is the Parkour category (like jumpleague), the horse riding cat., SG cat., Archer (there are even archer kits with doublejump), subcategory of soup called "moo"like a cow because you spawn a mushroom cow to get new soups, 2rena (best of 5, pick your items from a chest, your chest won't get reset for the whole best of 5 game), there are many more categories, please do something just don't put repeat kits in the ranked queue.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I didn't spell- and sentence check anything, so please forgive me for any misspelled words and for confusing phrasing. English is my fourth language, and I am not very adept at it. If anything should be unclear, just ask and I'd be happy to clarify.

I dont necessarily think more gamemodes is the solution, ranked is dead and adding more gamemodes will only make it worse. I think there should be less kits, especially in unranked. Why do we have both gapple and boxing? They are both fundamentally the same and the only thing that 2 seperate modes is doing is splitting that tiny playerbase in half. Also why did they remove classic? The only rod pvp based mode besides buhc. And buhc is doing really good playerwise in comparison to gapple and boxing. To sum it all up: Making different kits of a gamemode which is popular is ok, making different kits for a less popular gamemode divides a small playberbase.

And I like the idea of less pvp focused gamemodes on practice, this will hopefully attract a bigger playerbase from survival and lifesteal for example. 1.8 pvp is hard for beginners and non pvp focused gamemodes on practice would be a good hook to get more people on.

Your post brings up an important point about the need for a wider variety of ranked kits. Currently, the diversity is limited due to multiple listings of certain kits. Here’s a breakdown of the situation and suggestions for improvement:

Current State of Ranked Kits

There are 6 unique ranked kits out of a total of 12 available kits:

  1. Nodebuff (PotPvP, umbrella) - listed 3 times.
  2. Gapple (Speed 2 & more hearts, umbrella) - listed 2 times.
  3. BuildUHC (UHC, umbrella) - listed once.
  4. Bedfight (Bedwars1vs1, umbrella) - listed 3 times.
  5. Pearlfight (Aura, umbrella) - listed once.
  6. Sumo (Sumo, umbrella) - listed 2 times.

Breakdown of Redundancies

  • Nodebuff is listed as Nodebuff, Debuff, and AxePvP, making up 25% of the ranked kits.
  • Gapple is listed as Gapple and Combo, accounting for 16.7% of the ranked kits.
  • Bedfight appears as Bedfight, Voidfight, and Bridge, also making up 25% of the ranked kits.
  • Sumo is listed as Sumo and Battlerush, comprising 16.7% of the ranked kits.

Arguments and Observations

Your argument for considering AxePvP as part of the PotPvP umbrella, despite differences in inventory, makes sense due to its hybrid nature. Similarly, Combo originating from Gapple justifies its inclusion under that umbrella. The historical context you provided for these kits adds depth to your argument.

Need for More Variety

Your conclusion highlights a valid concern: the current ranked queue lacks diversity, with several categories being underutilized or unused. Expanding the range of kits could enhance the competitive experience by catering to varied playstyles and preferences. Suggested categories include:

  • Parkour (e.g., jumpleague)
  • Horse Riding
  • Survival Games (SG)
  • Archer (including double jump variants)
  • SoupPvP subcategory ("moo")
  • Arena (best of 5 with persistent inventory)

Final Thoughts

By addressing the redundancy and introducing new categories, the ranked queue can offer a richer and more engaging experience. Your insights and suggestions are a valuable contribution to this discussion, and I hope the developers take them into account to improve the variety and enjoyment of ranked kits.

Just like students who opt to buy a research paper to save time and ensure quality, players seek variety and challenge in their gaming experience. Expanding the range of kits can provide that much-needed diversity, making the gameplay more exciting and rewarding.

If anything remains unclear or if you have further suggestions, feel free to share. Your passion for this topic is evident and appreciated!
