Suggestion:
/checkchat [player] [timeframe]

Detailed description:
Command Suggestion: /checkchat [player] [timeframe]

Usage: This command allows admins to review chat logs of a specific player within a set timeframe, such as the last 10 minutes or 1 hour.

Permissions: Restricted to admins only.

Purpose: This command will help ensure that chat-related punishments are applied fairly by allowing admins to review the entire context of conversations. This would help prevent situations like what happened to me (kholiooo), where I received an unfair ban for responding to offensive language without the instigator being punished. By having access to the full chat records, admins can better identify and penalize all players involved in rule-breaking behavior, making the moderation process more balanced and just.

Additional Suggestions:

Direct Report Feature: Allow players to report specific chat messages directly to admins in real time to ensure immediate action can be taken against offenders.

Reason(s):
Reason for Implementing the /checkchat Command

In our gaming community, maintaining a fair and respectful environment is our top priority. One of the key aspects of achieving this is ensuring that all disciplinary actions, such as bans and mutes, are based on complete and accurate information. To address concerns about potential unfair bans and mutes, we are proposing the introduction of the /checkchat [player] [timeframe] command.

Purpose:

  1. Contextual Fairness: The primary purpose of this command is to allow admins to review the full context of a player's chat interactions within a specific timeframe. Often, incidents leading to disciplinary actions involve multiple players and ongoing conversations. By having access to the complete chat history, admins can ensure that punishments are applied fairly, considering all relevant factors and interactions.
  2. Preventing Unfair Treatment: We have observed situations where players have received unfair bans or mutes because the context of their responses was not fully understood. For example, a player might have been penalized for a reaction to offensive language without the instigator being addressed. This command helps prevent such scenarios by giving admins the tools to review the entire conversation and accurately determine the appropriate course of action.
  3. Ensuring Balanced Moderation: With the ability to review chat logs comprehensively, admins can identify not only the actions of the player who may have been penalized but also the actions of others involved in the situation. This promotes balanced moderation, where all rule-breaking behaviors are addressed and not just isolated incidents.
  4. Improving Transparency: By enabling admins to check chat logs, we enhance transparency in the moderation process. Players can be confident that decisions are made based on a thorough understanding of the situation, and they are less likely to feel that they were unfairly treated.

Example(s):
Scenario:

  • Player A: Alex
  • Player B: Sam
Incident:

  • Sam repeatedly uses offensive language in the chat.
  • Alex responds angrily to Sam’s comments.
  • An admin reviews only Alex’s response and mutes Alex for being aggressive.
Issue:

  • The admin didn’t see Sam’s offensive comments, leading to an unfair mute of Alex.
With /checkchat:

  • The admin uses /checkchat Alex 1h to view the entire conversation from the past hour.
  • The admin sees that Alex’s anger was provoked by Sam’s offensive remarks.
  • The admin issues a warning to Sam for offensive language and lifts Alex’s mute, addressing the root cause of the issue.

Hello Kholiooo,

Thank you for your interest in creating a suggestion to improve the server. We are always doing our best to make the server a better place for everyone.
However, we have eventually decided to deny your suggestion due to the following reason(s):
  • There is no need for players to make staff-related suggestions.
  • Even if someone annoys you, you are still not meant to break the rules. One act of rule-breaking does not justify another.
For your reference, here is a link to our suggestion guidelines → PikaNetwork Suggestion Guidelines.
Please make sure to read and understand them before suggesting again.

We also advise you to use our Thread Search Feature to look for (similar) already made suggestions and upvote them instead.
Have fun playing on PikaNetwork!
