Suggestion:
Better AH Tax System

Detailed description:
Right now, the Auction House charges a flat 5 gold tax on every item listed, no matter how cheap or expensive it is. On paper it seems fine, but in practice it hits new and struggling players the hardest.

Imagine a new player who finally grinds their way to list something for 10 gold — only to lose half of it instantly to tax. That’s discouraging, and it makes the early-game grind feel pointless. Meanwhile, rich players listing items for thousands barely even notice the 5 gold deduction.

To make things fairer and keep both new and veteran players active in the economy, I suggest introducing a tiered tax system based on the item’s listing price. For example:

Items priced between 2-25 gold → 1 gold tax

Items between 25– 50 gold → 3/4 gold tax

Items between 50-100 gold → 5/6 gold tax (or slightly higher if needed)

Items between 101-200 gold → 10 gold (or slightly higher if needed)

Items between 201-500 gold → 15 gold tax

Items between 501-1000 → 30 gold tax

Items above 1000 → 50 gold tax

This system keeps the tax meaningful for big trades, but it doesn’t punish smaller ones. It encourages new players to actually participate in the market, instead of feeling forced to sell items privately or avoid the AH altogether.

Why this helps the server:

1.Makes the economy feel more fair and balanced

2.Motivates new players to trade instead of hoarding or quitting

3/Increases AH activity, circulation, and overall player engagement

TL;DR: The flat 5 gold AH tax unfairly hurts small trades. A tiered tax system would be a simple but powerful fix that keeps both new and rich players invested in the economy.

P/S: These numbers are just examples of what I personally thought would be fair! The actual values, ranges, and balance changes are obviously up to the devs. Just an example of the system.

Reason(s):
1.Makes the economy feel more fair and balanced

2.Motivates new players to trade instead of hoarding or quitting

3. It reduces black-market / under-the-table trading

4. It aligns tax with transaction value, not just participation

5. It improves player retention metrics, basically making mid-tier players visiting and grinding regularly, making feel less burnout and demotivation and the server can also grow as now we aren't just targetting endgame grinders.

this system is not about tax,it's about value,'Pika gold value' they are trying to prevent people to list small -small items for gold.

Ngl This is way more expensive then the Ah gold tax we have today, I dont really wanna pay Extra gold for selling stuff above 100 gold price. -1

I don’t think a tiered tax is ideal. The flat 5g is meant to block 1 gold spam listings, and the tiered tax system would just be too complex for players to track. Adding a simple minimum listing price (e.g., 5g) might be a better solution.

Yeah, with the current flat 5g regressive tax, high-price listings (100g+) barely feel it since it's just a tiny % of the sale, unlike the tiered system's big jumps (e.g., 10g+ tax) that'd hit you way harder.
