Hello everyone and welcome to my Bedwars Strategy and Tactics Guide!
In this thread, we will cover different strategies and useful tactics that will hopefully lead you or your team to victory! Hope you enjoy! And makes sure to tell me about anything I didn't cover in this guide!
And make sure to keep an eye out for updates!
Table of Contents
Guide Part 1. Walkthrough
1. Know the Game
When a game of Bedwars first starts, of course after you get your gear, try to map out common areas where enemy players will be lurking. Remeber, every game will be different.
2. Gear Up!
In the beginning of the game, unless you're specifically gonna' defend or attack other beds, I recommend a set of gear including these items, though make sure to wait to get 12 gold, by then you will have around a stack-and-a-half of iron, it's fine if you get slightly more or less. So, get Iron armour, Stone sword, two stacks of wool, and shears. This loadout should get through most of the game.
3. Emeralds
Everyone has that joyful moment when they finally acquire 6 emeralds, most typically get diamond armour, which is a good choice, but there are more ways to spend emeralds. The first way is if you plan on destroying beds, for this you will only need 2 emeralds, for an invisibility and jump boost potion (more on that later). The other way is saving up to 8 emeralds then getting obsidian for the bed (don't use it on anything else).
Guide Part 2. Offence
In order to win a game of Bedwars, you generally have to destroy some beds, here you will learn different ways to destroy beds, when to use them, and how to use them. There are 3 main ways to attack an enemy bed, Bombing, Invis/Jump, TNT Run. Hopefully using this you won't stick to one strategy again.
Bombing is building a bridge straight over an enemy team bed defence and dropping TNT on it. When you're doing this make sure to make a straight bridge, not a giant staircase as you will need somewhere to run back to when they shoot fireballs at you. And remember to never drop TNT when there is a block under you as there is a good chance the TNT will drop on to the block instead of the enemy bed defence. And of course, don't use it on blast-proof glass.
Invis/Jump is using an invisibility and jump boost potion to get to an enemy bed and mining into the defence to destroy it. This is the most expensive strategy by far. You will need, a diamond pickaxe, a diamond axe, shears, blocks, and of course the 2 potions. This is the best strategy if you are attacking a large defence like a giant, intimidating pyramid. But remember never to use it when there are players on the opposing island.
TNT Run is simply running from the middle island to an opponent's bed and dropping a piece of TNT around when you're halfway to their island, this should buy you enough time to get through their defences. All you need for this an iron pickaxe, blocks, and shears. And make sure to use this early-game, it won't work late-game.
Guide Part 3. Defence
First of all SHOUT OUT TO ReaperReo FOR BEING THE FRIKIN BEST BEDWARS DEFENDER IN THE WORLD!!!
Okay, making a good bed defence is hard, and defending it is even harder. Here I will show you some good bed defence strategies, and no, none of them involve making a giant pyramid out of endstone. The reason is that people can bury themselves inside your defence. On top of that, I will also be telling you how to defend these bed defences, and they vary depending on which one you use.
Layer is making a 4-layer pyramid out of different blocks. This is the simplest of the 3, but possibly the most expensive. What you will need is 8 wood or obsidian for the first layer (inside), 10 wood for the second layer, endstone for the third layer, and finally blast-proof glass for the 4th. I recommend having at least 2 people guarding this defence, and one person should be getting diamonds for team upgrades.
Castle yes, this involves literally making a castle out of wool or clay. For this defence, you only need 1 person guarding as the entire point of this defence is not letting enemies even get near your bed. So make sure to have little pods to knock off attackers, and eventually get a bow to kill Bombers.
Isolation of course! The best bed defence is not letting those pests even think about attacking you! All you need to do for this one is not build a bridge to the middle island. Simple! You probably won't win..,
Guide Part 4. Clutching
Everyone has that horrible moment when they get the notification "Bed destroyed", but you can last a while longer or even win if you do all the steps listed here.
In this part, I will go over bridge building tactics and how to get the advantage on a bridge.
There are 3 effective ways of making a bridge. The first one is simple and easy, the second takes around a week of practice, and the third is extremely hard.
1. Diagonal Bridging, this one is very simple, instead of shift-walking backwards, shift-walk sideways, it's a lot faster.
2. Speed Bridging, this one takes some practice, but once you get the hang of it, it's easy. What you're gonna wanna do is walk backwards and shift right before you walk off the edge of the block while placing a block under you.
3. Sprint Bridging, this one takes weeks of practice, but trust me, it's worth it. Using this technique you can literally sprint while building a bridge. What you have to do is use either your W and D keys or your W and A keys and click as fast as you can to place blocks under you while moving diagonally. You're gonna eventually drift off to one side so make sure to press shift when that happens and correct yourself back to the centre.
Okay, these are a few ways to use bridges to your advantage.
1. Knocking people off, there are multiple ways of doing this, if you're on an island, simply hit them at a 75-degree angle while running forwards. If it's a bridge 1v1 and you must fight on the bridge, build a staircase facing your opponent and hit them when they are higher than you. You will get the hits as your head is closer to their feet than their head to your head.
2. Trolling, yes, you can troll enemies by creating a 3-block gap in a bridge and placing two blocks up as soon as they jump, they'll just hit the wall and fall into the void.
3. Taking down someone with an advantage. In case your fighting someone who is on an island and you're the one on the bridge, what you can do is build up a staircase pretty high, jump behind them and either start a combo or knock them off if you're lucky.
4. Bow trolling, in case someone happens to be jumping from one block to another, simply shoot em' with your bow and they'll run straight into the void! Another way to bow troll someone is by destroying their bridge with shears and shooting them off while their building.
5. Traps. A simple trap is just making two staircases facing both ways and making the one closer to your island be one block taller with nothing between them. A more complicated one is making 2 bridges on top of each other and making a 3-block gap in the two then blocking off the possibility they will jump on to the lower bridge.
Anyway! Thanks for reading my guide! It means a lot! And be sure to look out for future updates on this guide. Oh, and be sure to tell me about anything I missed or typoes! (This was typed very fast)
Have a great day!

Guide Part 4. Clutching
Everyone has that horrible moment when they get the notification "Bed destroyed", but you can last a while longer or even win if you do all the steps listed here.
- Focus on upgrading the Reinforced Armour team upgrade and make sure you already have Sharpened Swords and Heal Pool
- Don't risk your own life just to get emeralds
- Avoid powerful people with diamond armour or diamond swords
- Carry all your supplies with you, there is no need to store anything in the ender chest
- Don't cross a bridge if you see an archer
- Don't speed bridge or sprint bridge
- Focus on combat-based supplies
- Make sure you have blocks, at least 64
- Don't stay on the middle island too long
- Stay at different islands, not just your own
- Don't fight anyone unless you have the upper hand
- Try to run away from fireballs instead of deflecting them
- Avoid fighting when possible
- Only ever use the Invis/Jump attack strategy for low risk
- If you need to ask yourself if you should do something, don't do it
- Never type or crouch on a bridge
- Don't spend time building walls (Trump sucks btw)
- Use a bow when possible
- Don't spam fireballs
- Try to not let your heart beat harder and faster when you're attacking a bed
