I disagree, some situations the lead to a ban are complex and may not always be correct in the first place, they may be extremely minor rule breaks, but having an unban allows the player to have a second chance and the server gains from it.
The soup does not replenish your hunger bar, it heals you, the mode itself does not give your food when play it, meaning that if the fight stretches out (which it usually does) you won't be able to sprint for the rest of the fight.
