Nether Roof Ender Pearl not working

Has the nether roof been disabled because i cant use the ender pearl ladder method and it teleports me in weird places

Check when was the last login

So basically our base got raided and I'm curious who did it because there aren't any holes leading to the top and this means it's an inside job and I'm curious if I can check who was last online from our team or a player in general so we can deduct who did it :D
