OPFactions Rules Feedback & Suggestions - Marc.png

Hi everyone,

It has come to our attention that many of you have some feedback and suggestions regarding our current OP Factions-specific rules.
This is why we have decided to make this thread to keep all of your suggestions in the same place and to make handling them easier.

So how is this system going to work?
  • Every time you want to suggest something related to strikes/payout rules on OP Factions, reply to this thread with your suggestion.
  • Make sure you are as detailed as possible when suggesting! This gives us a clearer picture that makes it easier to implement the idea.
  • Team Factions will go through your suggestions at the end of each season.
That being said, there are some things you shouldn't post here. Those are:
  • Replies such as 'I agree' or '+1'
  • Disrespectful comments towards the server, the staff team or the players
  • Messages that are not a suggestion or a question
If you agree with something another player has said, please use the appropriate reactions to express your agreement.
Going off-topic or posting content that falls under the above will result in a punishment and deletion of said content.

If you have any questions related to this thread, feel free to ask them in the replies as well.
Other than that, PikaNetwork wishes you good luck with your suggestions!

Hello, my ign is RunYourShordie, and I'm the current king of Op-Factions (established). This thread will list out why winning Op-Factions has become so incredibly easy that it's just boring to continue winning like this and clearly unfair for new players. Below are some suggestions to be changed/implemented so that the community can be revived and be a better experience for all players.
  • Fly disabled in enemy claims
    • This used to be a core feature of the server and would like to see it back as it is crucial to raiding. If the staff team thinks otherwise, I believe they should at least fix the radius of disabling enemy flight. This radius should be increased to a much higher rate so that the players of the defending faction are NOT able to patch while the raiding faction is unable to keep up. (ex. Patcher is flying to patch while the Raider is swimming either up or down to reach/hit them)
    • The defending faction should not be able to fly patch while the raiding faction is unable to fly after them.

  • Printer / Jar
    • The current printer has many issues, I would like to see a much more varied amount of blocks be added to the current printer so a bigger number of various cannons can be used in raiding. I believe a fix towards the current Wine Jar would also make it better, possibly getting the latest update so that multiple cannons are able to shoot on the server without it crashing or having the TPS drop, seeing as this server is quite big and can reach up to approx. 100+ players per hour.

  • Lowering the Faction Size number
    • I believe the implementation of a lowered faction size will increase the number of factions competing for first place. Since established factions such as Bacardi currently control the server and hold it hostage, lowering the number of players in a faction to 15 with an unlimited roster (so they can be exchanged out) will allow for smaller factions to hold numbers and even the playing field with bigger factions. For example, newer factions with only 15 players can hold against a faction with 40 players since it would be a 15v15.

  • Change on the current base rules
    • There should be a change in the current base rules as it would be easier for new/old factions to compete and raid. Currently, it is 20 chunk bases with 3-second cannoning, which means on the current settings of 20v20 this is near impossible to raid, causing factions to be demotivated to even compete against a faction that is established. I believe either the base chunk limit should be changed to 15 chunks or continue to keep it to 20 chunks but limit the counter amount to 1 and allow 2-second raiding.
    • Another point on this is to conduct a ban on certain counter schematics, such as the Chimney Counter. This type of counter is built on a very low Y level such as 20 and used to make the TNT shoot at 255. This means the only way to breach it is to shoot at a small barrel that is about 5 blocks wide or make another cannon and shoot it first then somehow make sure they don't repair it and build a whole new raid cannon to aim for their base.
    • The removal of F1NNSTER walls should also be implemented or changed to 1 chunk per side as it is incredibly tedious to go through and tedious to clean up. I believe F1NNSTERS should be allowed if the base chunk limit was changed to 15 chunks at least.

  • Removal or Border Countering
    • What is Border Counter? A cannon has 4 sides to it, border countering is when a side counter is created on the border side (where the raid cannon is used to adjust) causing extra raid claims to be wasted on walls + restricting the raiding faction from using the full adjust capability. Pika is centered around its skyblock ability to just grind value and defend and I feel that it should now be introduced to the raiding aspect and this is the second step. The first step was done by the genius staff who decided to remove back countering.

  • Add a rule to change the height of valuables placed in a base
    • This is pretty self-explanatory, as raid cannons are meant to only shoot for a certain Y range ( 255 - approx 200). So when a faction makes a base and places spawners at Y20 or something it restricts the raiding faction from raiding efficiently, and the constant sand walls keep falling requiring a much longer time to raid. I believe this should be changed since Pika-Network is already catered to base defenses and the ability to defend so easily, pretty much being a skyblock server since raiding never happens

  • Side Timers / Cooldowns **BIG ISSUE**
    • This is a HUGE issue on Op-Factions currently. At this very moment, there is no rule restricting the defending faction from making 100 side counters on ONE raid cannon. This is a huge problem since the defending faction can just shoot their 1st side, and once it fails for whatever reason instantly switch to the other side (they made it already) which could be right behind it and shoot at the exact same spot as if the defenders' side counter didn't get blown. This pretty much gives the defending faction an infinite number of sides since they can just have 1 person printing a side and 1 person shooting then exchanging roles to create an infinite loop of shooting.
    • Side counters should also be able to be shot at from ANY side, as long as it not interfering with the siders' ability to accomplish the goal of disabling a raid cannon (Ex. Raiding Faction is shooting at the base, Defending faction is shooting a side counter at the raiding factions raid cannon. The raiding faction then should be able to side the defending factions side counter from ANY side as long as it doesnt interfere with the defending factions ability to side the raiding factions raid cannon) (NOTE: Raid Cannons CANNOT be back countered, only side counters)

  • Faction Strike Proof **BIG ISSUE**
    • It is currently very hard to trust Faction staff as some of them have been seen to be ACTIVELY playing with competing factions, which I know sounds absolutely absurd. If a faction gets striked, currently there is no way to validate the proof or appeal it since staff will not give proof of why they are being striked. I don't understand this at all since there is no way the Faction is able to appeal not knowing why they have been striked, when the offense was committed, why it was committed, who committed it etc.

  • Allow Multiple Raid Claims
    • Allow factions to have multiple raid claims (max of 1 raid claim per side of base). This is because a base has 2 sides if it is placed in the corner of the world, so if one side is breached by the defending faction, the other side (fresh buffer) would be able to get shot at by the raiding faction after a 5-10 min cooldown.
    • This will also allow factions to raid multiple factions across the server (such as Faction A raids Faction B from world 1 and Factions A raids Faction C from world 2) This would speed up the process since back-to-back raiding would be easier

  • Add a warning feature **BIG ISSUE**
    • A /f warns feature would be a HUGE implementation on the factions community here on Pika-Network. Currently, the rule violations (minor offenses such as 1 extra chunk claim, etc) provide multiple strikes in a range from 1-3. Out of a total of 10 strikes for disqualification on a map that lasts approx. 5 weeks, doing this is very hard. A warning feature would introduce a parallel to strikes, for example, a buffer limit violation would result in a warning, and with 3 warnings the faction will receive a strike. This allows new factions coming from different servers to donate and play on Pika-Network and have a better time as they won't instantly be striked and shield banned for rules they arent familiar with that are much different on competitive servers. The implementation of this and lifting the severity of strikes being rolled out will increase the player rate.

  • Factions Community in General
    • It can be seen that the Factions community is MUCH different than other communities such as Skyblock, Prison, and KitPvP. The Factions game mode is much much more competitive and intense compared to the previously listed game modes. For this reason, I believe there should be a few rules that should be removed:
      • Swearing (not racial slurs, etc)
      • Spamming (increased to 5x instead of 3x)
      • Posting discord invites in chat (faction discords for recruitment, server related, etc)

  • Faction Staff **REALLY BIG ISSUE**
    • Currently, the factions staff team has very little to no knowledge of how the game mode is played, so I believe it is unfair for the players if someone with no knowledge of the game mode is the one enforcing the rules. I believe there that the staff team for factions should learn how it is actually played so they would have a better understanding of strike reports and appeals that are created by factions. It is currently very easy to manipulate the factions' staff into falsely striking other factions.
    • If the faction's staff need to learn how to play the game mode, HMU I will help!

  • Raid Event / Raiding Outpost
    • I know that the Raid Outpost is a hard thing to implement on this type of server, but it would be VERY fun if it were to get implemented.
    • I believe that the staff team should host a few Raid Events per big map (Winter/Summer) so that factions can have fun throughout the entire map and not just for the first and last week of each map. Raid Event prizes can be varied such as permanent ranks, an Eternal Rank, Pika Gold, etc causing an influx of players to compete.

  • Raid Edit Competition
    • In previous maps, there were competitions that took place, such as the base design competition for Pika Gold that took place in a previous winter map. I believe the introduction of Raid Edits as a competition will not only have players become more competitive in raiding and defending for content but also push Pika-Network content out onto youtube for further advertising. Below is a link to an example video with over 4000 views and 70+ likes.

More suggestions to come, lmk if u got any inquiries on these.

These are suggestions based on another post that has received major positive feedback from the community. Currently, there are expected to be over 3 factions with 10+ players in each that are planning to play the Pika-Network winter map (the map after the next one) so if these suggestions are implemented it would make for a better experience.

List Of Changes:

- Limiting 1 Buffer Counter Per Side Of Base (5c Of Walls)
- Buffer Counters Must Be Within 6C of Base Shell
- Removing Value Boxes (Only allow spawners to be placed inside 1 shell inside a base claim)
- Adding Chimney Cannons To Illegal Cannons List
- Side Countering Raid Cannons From The Border Sha'll be Illegal
- Side Countering Raid Cannons From The Front Sha'll be Illegal
- Allowing A Rev Hybrid And 10 Stacker In The Same Cannon Box If The Cannon Box Is Breachable At Y1
- Disallowing Factions From Claiming Anywhere Within a 30 chunks raidus of their base walls with normal claims

(1): Limiting one buffer counter side is beneficial to compensate for the factions that are not capable of getting their hands on cannons that will be able to float 20+ chunks to be able to hit both buffer counters on a factions base. It is also difficult to reach these float ranges without exceeding the maximum tnt limit per shot on the server.

(2): Following The Buffer Counter Rules, this is also a rule that many servers have used due to that issue previously stated. Factions shall not be able to space their buffer counters 20 chunks apart from eachother. Making factions put their buffer counters within 6 chunks of their base walls will allow factions to be able to raid the buffer counters and raid the base without having to worry about floating extreme distances.

(3): Pika is currently 20 mans gapple pvp with infinite obby available for patching. This makes the base extremely easy to defend especially when raiding speed is 3 seconds. Having 3 value boxes means a faction will have to split a factions 20 chunk buffer 3 times resulting in 60 chunks of walls needing to be breached to receive a factions full value. Not even considering taking out both buffer counters, raids on factions with multiple value boxes will take way over 6 hours. All valuable spawners shall be required to be placed in one singular value box with a minimum size of 2x2 chunks.

(4): Chimney Counters and Raid Cannons shall be added to the illegal list of cannons due to them being external barrels. breaching a chimney barrel will not breach the cannon and therefore causes these buffer counters to be unreachable.

(5 & 6): Side counters shall only be used to counter the side of a raid cannon from one side. Side counters are given their name to be able to counter a cannon from the side and not from the front. The front walls of a raid cannon are used to defend against buffer counters. Border countering shall also be illegal as this is the side a faction will use to adjust their cannon. Being able to side counter from the border side makes adjusting a raid cannon extremely difficult and in most cases will allow their raid cannon to get one shot as you simply can not put walls in front of your adjust. This also removes area for a faction to barrel claim.

(7): Rev Hybriding at 3s at y1 is impossible to breach a full walled base. In factions you are permitted to use a 10 stacker to get through a factions walls to create room for your rev hybrid. If both cannons are in the same box and both are removable upon breaching the cannon box at y1, there should be no issue with allowing this.

(8): Factions shall not be allowed to make any normal claims within a 30 chunk or even more radius outside of their base walls. This stop factions from making 1c claims randomly outside their base to limit enemy factions from being able to make raid claims. This rule is self explanatory and should be implemented.

Craftigames has some of these rules implemented on their other factions server, Jartex Network, and they have been very pleasing to the factions community there, so I believe Pika should get the same love and support from our factions staff team! <3

Another Rule:

Disallow factions from printing/genning to fix their buffer counters after they have been blown/breached during a raid! Factions have been printing and genning their buffer counters in mid raid after the raiding faction has already breached them!

Any faction that is disqualified (10 or more strikes) should be perm raid banned.
This should carry over factions if they were to strike evade and should also connect to accs with same ip addresses.

reason: Factions with nothing to lose will abuse server rules to bring other factions down breaking any rule they want.

Hi everyone,

As promised, I will reply to some main points this thread recently received. For the sake of saving some time, I will not reply to everything individually, but I think I will be able to address all the main ideas. Some suggestions have already been implemented, so I will not comment on those either.

Technical ideas
I have no control over technical changes (cannon jar, commands, features, etc.). This thread is only for strikes and payout rules, so I cannot address those suggestions here. You should make a separate suggestion for those.

Global rules
Rules such as spamming or swearing will definitely not be changed on OP Factions. I understand that there is more toxicity going on here, but global rules will always apply to all game modes.

Events
We are considering the events suggested here! There is a chance we make something similar in the future (no promises, though).

Most raiding-related ideas
Although some of the changes we have decided to make will make raiding easier, most of the ideas made here with the objective of making defending harder and raiding easier will not be implemented. This is because we feel like the reduced faction size limit (alongside the changes listed below) should be good enough for PikaNetwork's level of competitive play.

Implemented ideas
I have just written a changelog on our Discord server stating what has been implemented. Make sure to check it out!

Sharing evidence
We currently have no plans to share the exact evidence of strikes, but we are actively searching for an alternative solution which could assist you when making an appeal (without all the drawbacks of sharing the evidence). If we come up with something, we will be sure to give it a try. We understand the importance of this and we are aware that the current system is not perfect.

I hope you all enjoy the upcoming season of OP Factions!

Remove 48 hr shield ban and make it into 12hr shield ban at max. back then when it was 40 mans it made sense to have 48 hour shield ban but now it makes no sense to have 48 hour shield ban as its 10 mans and being shield banned basically means there is a high chance you will lose everything u worked for.

Suggestion:
Disallow side countering raid cannons from the border

Detailed description:
When setting up on a base, a typical cannon box will have front walls for the buffer counter, and side walls for the side counters. As back countering isn't already allowed, border countering should not be as well. You use the border side to make a backboard to adjust your cannon. You should not have to defend the adjusting side of your cannon. I will provide photos of this case.

Photos:

View: https://imgur.com/a/0dfUQBl
Reason(s):
Photo 1) You can clearly see you need 24 walls on every single side of your cannon box to defend against front, side, and border side (where the cannon is adjusting) This is extremely tedious as this is where you need to adjust your cannon around your walls.

Photo 2) This is what a normal cannon box will look like. Walls for the buffer counter in the front, and walls for side countering on the opposite side of the adjusting side of the cannon. This gives the defending faction 2 sides to counter the box from and the raiding faction two sides to defend and an open adjusting side to freely adjust their cannon.

Suggestion:

Allow 1 -> 10 stackers and rev hybrids in the same box
Detailed description:
Allowing a 1 to 10 stacker and a rev hybrid cannon in the same box is essential for rev raiding. It is impossible to use a 3 sec rev hybrid to 1 stack through 20c of walls. Allowing a 10 stacker with this rev hybrid allows the possibility of being able to use a rev during a raid as all other servers allow this concept. Here are the rules behind it:

1) Both cannons must be ceggable when any part of the cannon box is breached
2) Both cannons must never shoot at the same time
3) Revs must shoot at the allowed cannoning speed above y10 because if though the shot is coming in at y1, it is stacking up to 255 (revs must be 3 sec)

Reason(s):
This gives all possibilities to raid on our favorite server pikanetwork!

Suggestion:

Require Faction Bases to be From Y255 to Y190 and No value boxes

Detailed description:

Currently facitons are allowed to place spawners in their base even if it is only 10 blocks tall. (roof at 255 floor at 245) A base this thin is impossble to breach on 20c buffers. bases should be REQUIRED to have a roof at 255 and expand all the way down to a floor at y190

Bases also are allowed to have 3 value boxes which is insane. This means you need to breach 60 chunks of walls on 3 second gapple pvp to get to all value boxes. This is literally impossible. Bases sha'll be required to be one big value box and upon breaching the base anywhere, all value is ceggable

1) 60 Chunks for all 3 value boxes on 3 second gapple pvp with infinite obsidian to patch with is physically impossible. Especially since defending factions can also shoot side counters back to back with no timer

2) 10 Block bases are impossible to breach on 20 chunk 3 second and shall be required to have a roof at 255, and a base floor at 190, making a singular base box for spawners with no other boxes or walls inside. All raid cannons shoot from 255-200ish so this is fair for all players

Reason(s):
These rules will make raiding way more possible as it currently is physically impossible. Keep in mind defending factions can shoot as many side counters at a raid box whenever they want as long as they arent shooting at the same time. There is no reason base rules should have this many loop holes. OP Factions is currently OP Skyblock. No raiding allowed what so ever.
